Harsh Realities and Little Known Facts About Auto Services

If your car is making certain noises or emitting certain odours, there may be something wrong with it. Hi! My name is Emmeline, and I love working with cars. I grew up in the outback, and my papa had me by his side while he was fixing cars and agriculture equipment from the time I was very little. The process still fascinates me. I decided to create a blog devoted to auto service, and in this space, I plan to post a bit of everything, ranging from little known facts to harsh realities about cars. I hope that you like these posts and that they help you learn more about auto service.

Protect Your Investment: How To Care For Your Agricultural Tyres

If you operate agricultural equipment, you know that you have to ensure proper maintenance and care, especially of the engine. However, you might not know that the same level of care should carry over to the tyres. You might not realise this, but improper tyre care can undermine the performance of your tractor. That's why it's important for you to know how to care for your new agricultural tyres. Here are four tips that will help you avoid tyre problems.

Understand the Specifications

If it's time to invest in new agricultural tyres for your tractor, make sure you understand the specifications. Understanding the exact specifications for your agricultural tyres will help you to ensure proper care. Some of the specifications you need to be aware of include sizing, model number and pressure requirements. Choosing the wrong tyre size for your tractor, or failing to provide adequate air pressure, can undermine performance. If you're not sure where to find these specifications, you can look in the owner's manual.

Avoid Overloading the Tractor

When you run an agricultural operation, you want to get as much work done throughout the day as possible. When you're on a tight schedule, you may need to overload the tractor. Unfortunately, overloading the tractor can cause serious problems for the tyres. Agricultural tyres are designed to provide heavy-duty performance, but there are still weight restrictions that need to be followed. Failing to consider load restrictions could cause your agricultural tyres to fail under the pressure. To avoid that risk, never overload your tractor.

Keep the Tractor Tires Clean

If you want to extend the life of your agricultural tractor tyres, don't forget to keep them clean. Tractor tyres pick up a lot of debris including gravel, oil and mud. Not only is that debris unsightly, but it can also cause premature wear and tear. The best way to protect your tyres is to clean them at least once a week. When cleaning your agricultural tyres, be sure to include the tread and the rims.

Watch for Signs of Damage

Finally, when you run an agricultural operation, you depend on your equipment. Because of that, you can't afford to lose your tyres to damage. One way to ensure dependability is to inspect your tractor tyres at least once a day. Daily inspections will allow you to identify damage that needs to be addressed. Some of the damage you need to watch for includes cracks, bulges and uneven tread wear.
